Akatu Institute

The Akatu Institute is a non-profit NGO that was founded on March 15, 2001 (International Consumer Day). Created with a mission to educate and mobilize society for conscious consumption, the Akatu Institute endeavors to make consumers aware of the importance of their consumption choices as an instrument to transform society and the environment.

B-Lab

B-Lab aims to create a new sector of the economy which uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. This sector will be comprised of a new type of corporation – the B Corporation – that meets rigorous and independent standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

Beth Wallace

Until mid 2010, Beth was VP, Digital Marketing at Conservation International. Prior to this, Beth worked as VP, Online Marketing at AOL, Inc. Beth spent two weeks as an Earthwatch volunteer in Namibia in 1999, and has traveled to Africa every year since 1998.

Beth has chaired the DC chapter of the Cheetah Conservation Fund for several years and leads planning for a fund-raising event in DC each year. She is currently participating on the .ECO Council by invitation in an individual capacity.
